Whey protein is a pure, natural, high quality protein. It’s a complete protein which contains all of the essential amino acids required in the daily diet. It has the ideal combination of amino acids to help improve body composition and enhance athletic performance. Whey protein repairs body cells, builds and repairs muscles and bones and is considered one of the best things to speed up your metabolism. (more…)
Don’t let the name fool you, this recovery drink can be taken after any extreme workout!
If you want I can struggle to explain how the Biological Value (BV) scale of measurement is used to determine what percentage of a given nutrient source is being utilized by the body…or I can just explain in layman’s term.
You basically damage your muscles when you engage in extreme cardio type strength training exercises like P90X and Insanity. After a workout, your body begins a process that breaks down your muscles. It does this because most of your stored fuel (glycogen) was used during the actual workout. A post-workout drink with carbs and whey protein stops the breakdown process and stimulates muscle repair and growth…it’s very important to suck this drink down within 60 minutes of your workout. Resistance training bands are becoming very popular in the world of fitness today. They have been proven to help you burn fat and lean muscle faster than ever and are just as effective as weights. They are also very affordable, especially if you compare them to weights. You can pretty much incorporate them in everyday exercise routines. Most of BeachBody’s fitness programs utilize these bands. The P90X program which has more of a focus on building muscle can be 100% completed with resistance bands. You can even buy a door adapter and perform an alternative exercise to chin-ups with them. Resistance bands are also great for the traveler as they fit easily in your carry-on and are light weight. (more…)

This item is one of the most popular BeachBody accessory. Chin-ups are a big part of the P90X program but if you are unable to do any, you could use the B-Line Resistance Bands with the door attachment as an alternative. My recommendation is if you can do at least one solid chin-up (no cheating), you should consider purchasing a chin-up bar. You need to start somewhere and if you can do one, soon it will lead into 2 or 3, then 4-5, etc… (more…)
Let’s face it, the #1 reason why you do not exercise enough or even at all is due from all of the EXCUSES you make up. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but excuses are not reasons not to work out. Studies show that 60% of American adults do not get the recommended amount of physical activity, and over 25% are not active at all. My guess is that a small percentage of the people that fall into those groups have valid reasons (not excuses) on why they cannot exercise but the vast majority just make excuses.
Ok, ok…now’s the time I get to tell you that I immediately fell into the “not getting enough exercise” group once I bought my first house, got married, etc…Based on that statement, it’s my wife’s fault…right? I wish I could point the finger at someone other than myself but I can’t. I would constantly tell myself that “I do not have the time” or “I have no energy” but then I would go home and watch ESPN for an hour or so. Sometimes it’s hard to grasp this concept but excercise actually energizes you, it’s a fact that it increases your energy level. So we all can throw out the “I have no energy” excuse as exercise is the solution to that excuse.
The problem with most exercise programs is that you do not see results quick enough which takes a heavy toll on your motivation to continue so you eventually slack off or even stop. Unless you are a professional athlete, the chances are you do not have the proper resources to see the results you wished for in a couple of months or so.
Now, what if I told you that you can easily surround yourself with the professional resources needed to see phenomenal results in such a short period of time? Well, you can and the answer is BeachBody! BeachBody is the creator of the world’s most popular in-home fitness and weight-loss programs.

fightFATblogger: That is a significant drop. You may want to look at my P90X MASS routine, read the articles under the "popular post" column. Also, I highly recommend buying a 40lb exercise vest...I absolutely love mine and it crushes you during the chest workouts (I bought mine on amazon for $70)
Otis: Hey I am 6 weeks in and I went to the gym to do some bench and I have gone from benching 315 to barely being able to do 195. I am pissed! I have lost so much strength!!! Any advice? I am ready to quit! Losing that much strength isnt worth the 2% bodyfat I have lost or all the beer I havent drank since day 1
fightFATblogger: Thanks! Check out the link below but minus out the casein protein shakes to start. Both Drisc and I lost 27-30 pounds following this program for 90 days (I allowed myself about 5 cheat meals in 90 days)...we pretty much kept our calorie count between 1700-1900 a day. As you get more fit, your body will demand more calories (metabolism increases) so throw in those casein shakes or something similiar. Everyone is different so listen to your body to make sure you are eating enough. P90 will definitly get you ready for P90X, keep in touch... http://fightfatblogger.com/nutrition/
DickG: Great job on the triathlon. Had a question, I am just starting P90, tried P90x but struggled so thought I should do a round of p90 first. What do you follow for a diet? Thanks
fightFATblogger: Thank you, and congrats on taking the Power90 / P90X challenge... Seeing that you have to workout on an empty stomach, I would recommend having a protein shake the night before. Your muscles will feed off it while you are sleeping and your body will use it as fuel during your morning workout.
