Phase 2 is in the books…started Phase 3 this morning. Ended Phase 2 at 200 lbs. So down 25 from the start and down 5 from the end of the Phase 1. I am happy with both of those. Especially considering my weight loss had stalled pretty badly for a while. So now I am sitting right at that 200 barrier. It has been a LONG time since I was under 200…I believe probably my freshman year of college. Looking forward to seeing a "1″ at the beginning of my weight.
Chest/Back was great this morning. Hadn't done this workout in nearly 5 weeks now and I did the best I have ever done at this one, by a long shot. My reps on the pushups were really improved. Very happy. Two things that I guess are different from Phase 1. One I am stronger and lighter, which is obvious after just going through Phase 2. But the other thing is I used the dumbbells as push up stands and I think it made a big difference. Just felt more comfortable. I am pumped for Phase 3 and the potential of hitting my weight loss of target of 195 lbs.

Another tough weekend. I am in San Francisco now….just ran 3.5 miles then hoped on the bike for another 3 miles…..now gonna go have a fat burger and beer! We will see….maybe just a salad. No workout tomorrow….all day meeting then red eye home. If I can maybe get up early and run but I doubt it.

The bars are great, thanks for sharing.
I broke this batch into eights and I plan on making them my evening treat…85 calories / 10g of protein.
Not sure where they are, I would be surprised if they are still doing it.

Ran three miles this morning. Pretty uneventful, but I am enjoying the running-on-the-rest-week routine. I think I just needed to change things up a little bit. Hoping to get four miles in tomorrow morning and then start in on Phase 3 on Wednesday. It'll be nice to get back to the Phase 1 workouts for a week.
FFB – how'd the protein bars come out? Brought one myself for a snack this afternoon.
Any chance Sully and Dickie are out there somewhere still cranking on P90X?

Taking a rest day today (might do Core tonight but not likely). I am then going to run the next two days and then start week 9 on Wednesday. I was looking at the calendar and realized I don't have enough time to get through everything before my vacation end of March, so I need to modify just a littel bit. Nothing significant. Basically I am going to swap Kenpo for Yoga and then go on a 5 day on, one day rest schedule the rest of the way. So basically instead of 6 p90x workouts, it will be 5 a week then a rest. This will allow me to finish week 12 the day before I go away. Not worried about the "rest" week while on vacation, but I am planning on running at least 3-4 times while in Florida.
Couple of other non-P90X items…I broke my old bike out of the shed this afternoon and pumped up the tires. Safe to say I haven't been on it in 9-10 years. I took a quick loop right on my street but probably needs a small tune-up. Going to have a friend take a look at it and then once the weather picks up, will work a couple of rides into my schedule.
The other thing is I made some pretty good home made protein bars last night. Very easy:
1/4 cup reduced fat peanut butter 3 TBL fat-free chocolate syrup 3 scoops chocolate protein powder (I used the whey chocolate) 1 – 1 1/2 TBL water (you may need more…I think probably closer to 3 TBL) In small bowl, combine peanut butter and chocolate syrup. Add the protein and enough water to moisten slightly. Place mixture on waxed paper or plastic wrap, and knead by hand for a few seconds to blend ingredients. Form into four bars of small rectangles either by hand or rolling mixture with a rolling pin between two sheets of waxed paper. Wrap each bar in waxed paper or plastic wrap. Store in refrigerator to preserve freshness. I put in freezer for 30 minutes before eating and it came out great.
Make 4 bars
Per Bar: Calories 170/ Protein 17 grams/ Carbs 13grams/ Fat 6grams

Keep it up, you guys are doing great!
I lifted 3 times this week and ran 4 times (4 miles) this week but I have been cheating on my nutrition big time. I shouldn't be doing this but I keep telling myself to eat whatever as round 2 is coming. I thought I had more willpower than what I have been showing…although the wife doesn't think it's bad at all so maybe I am so used to eating great all of the time.
I am looking forward to getting back into the P90X zone.
Anyways, time to get back to doing some 12oz curls…yes, i just said that.

Got in a four mile run before the game today and actually didn't do too bad as far as cheating on the nutrition. Had a few beers, but on the food side only had some shrimp and some buffalo wings. Nothing wrong with the shrimp as far as nutrition and the buffalo wings were baked and not breaded. So I will call today a win…..although the Celts lost to the worst team in the league.

Ran 3 miles last night. Felt okay, not great, during my run. Started off thinking I would run 3 or 4 miles, so was okay with 3, but was maybe expecting to feel a littel better. I am going to Celtics game today with work in the luxury box, so it would almost be wrong of me not to have a dog and few beers….so I am going to try to get another run in this morning before I head out.

Sick today but got a 3.5 mile run in. I think I am going to do week 7 over. Don't feel that I deserve a rest week. So hopefully I will do Chest, shoulders and triceps tomorrow and then do a whole week and take my rest week the following week. That works out well too because I am going away in 2 weeks for the weekend and it will be my rest week. And when I get back on Monday I can start up week 10….AND BRING IT!!!!

I can honest say I am looking forward to Monday (round 2), I am sure I will not be saying that next week though.

Just finished back and biceps….felt good. Left arm was still weak but overall great workout. Felt a little sick at the end so I will push off abs till the morning….no excuse not to fit a 15 minute workout in before work. It was nice to get back into things after missing a few days. Just need to get in the workouts when I can…I can't worry about missing any…if I do I do…just need to bring it when I press play.
And I got my tickets……..the tickets to the "GUN" show!!!!

I was on the same schedule as drisc but missed the last two day because of traveling. Going to do back and biceps tonight, plyo tomorrow and legs and back friday. Then run pretty much next week with two cores in there. I haven't gained or lost any weight in the last 3 weeks. Need to pick it up in phase 3 but it will be tough….work is crazy and for the next 3 weeks I am traveling quite a bit….just need to find the time to workout. It is tough to come home from a trip being away for a few days and my options are workout or spend time with the family….the workout usually doesn't win in that scenerio.

FFB – completely agree with all you said. The hang up on the weight loss is the contest. In reality I have already made my final weight…had to be 205.7. Weighed in last time at 204. It is more just a competitive thing to try to win….and I know I have more weight to lose, either way. I think to really lose the weight, I need to do doubles but I just don't have the time.
Anyway, finished Week 7 today with Legs and Back. I hate this one beyond belief. I can not keep up with all the reps. I think a good part of it is my breathing during the workout. Have to figure that out. At times I feel more gas'd than I do with the cardio. My whole focus with this workout is just to get it behind me every week because it means the rest day is here. So I will rest tomorrow, then I have the rest week to finish off Phase 2. My plan is to do 3-4 runs of about 3 or 4 miles. How I spread those out, I am not sure. Might do two on, one off type of deal but it may depend on my schedule a little bit.
Phase 3, right around the corner.

I know you are in a contest but weight is not the best indicator on how well you are doing. If you lose fat and build muscle, your weight will stay the same…maybe even increase a bit. I know you know that though and again…you are in a weight loss contest so that is your focus.
I agree with you as far as running for weight loss. I lost more weight in phase 3 then I did in phase 2 so keep that in mind.
I can't believe you are almost in phase 3 already, time to step it up another notch!

KenpoX this morning. I think I probably got my best kenpo workout yet on this one. Not sure why, don't feel like I was doing anything different but definitely felt like I got a really good workout. Glad to have it out of the way. I will finish the week with Legs & Back tomorrow, always one of my least favorites and then on to the rest week for week 8 and unbelievably the end of phase 2. I have stopped weighing myself recently, but am not expecting any significant weight loss during phase 2. Any weight loss will be a surprise, given my recent results. No doubt I am in way better shape though, so no worries.
For the rest week I think I am basically going to run. Probably alternate run-rest for six days (may do Core once)…and then on to Phase 3. I think the running will be good for me in the weight loss department and improving my cardio, which is where I will probably focus once done with Phase 3.

Back and Biceps this morning. Pushed play about 5:05am….trying to get back in the AM routine. As I said before, I really like this one. Probably because I have to work hard to complete. Not great at either. But get a great burn. If I am home before 7:30pm, kind of a big "if" this time of year, I am going to try to get a run in tonight. Anytime after that, probably won't since I need time to eat dinner and just don't want to be starting a workout at 9:30pm. Going to go with Kenpo tomorrow for yoga, to keep my week moving a little quicker, given that I got off to a slow start. This will put me on track to finish up week 7 on Wednesday with Legs & Back. Will probably try to get in one other run as well (two total for the week). My biggest challenge is time right now, so just finding a way is most of the battle…once I start I feel great.

Today was plyo for me also…but I decided to run 4 miles instead. Too much cheerleading stuff going on this weekend for my wife so I had the kids playing during the workout…no way I could have jumped around without spraining an ankle on some toy. So the treadmill was the best bet. Felt good and got a great sweet on. Tomorrow will do my workout then take Tuesday off cause I will be traveling all day.

Just did Plyo. Oh, man. It pretty much looked like I just jumped in a pool when I was done. I work out down in our family room and we have a fire place down there. We had the fire going earlier while watching tv, just before my workout, so it was probably 80 degrees in the room when I started. Was definitely dead afterward. Probably not even at the half way point (the mary catherine's) I was really feeling it. There is no doubt in my mind when I started I would have hit pause at that point. Too far in to it to be doing that at this point (unless absolutely necessary) so pushed through it. Glad I did. Finished strong.

I also started week 7 today. Kind of Dnash-ed it the last couple of days (ie. no workouts). Kidding. I had a ton going on at work and had a few things outside of work that just never allowed me to get my workouts in. Anyway, pretty good workout. Still not getting all the reps I would like on the push-ups, but I am definitely pushing myself. Altogether, a good workout. Need to get back into my 5am routine, I think, if I want to maintain the p90x schedule.
I also got my casein today, so I am going to start that tonight. Planning on taking it every night. I need the protein and the calories in my diet.
