Just knocked out chest/shoulders/tris.  Actually worked at home today, but just never squeezed in the workout.  Need to get back in morning mode on a more regular basis…although not completey sure that I will get up early for Plyo tomorrow.  I always find it hard to do a late night workout and then follow up with the 5am.  Body needs more rest.

Anyway, tonight's workout was a good one.  I fought to get through reps on just about every exercise.  Now, that said, I find the phase 2 push-ups to be way harder than phase 1.  I am totally burned towards the end.  Once again I passed on ARX.  Either next week or Phase 3, I will make more of a commitment to ARX.

FFB – shout out for finishing up tomorrow.  I am determined to see this through to 90 days.  Almost half-way there!

DNash – cardio is cardio.  I can't really see enjoying this if I was trying to do it in a hotel room.

Took yesterday off….my calfs were all cramped up.  Probably because I have run more in the last 2 weeks then I have in the last year.  So I did Plyo today but wan't really into it.  So I hopped on the tread mile the last 15 mintues and ran and 8 minute mile (the last half mile in 3 minutes) and thought I was going to die.  I might phase out plyo, yoga and kenpo and replace with running.  Want to get into running so run 3 to 4 times a week and still stick with the P90X lifting in phases I am supposed to.  Next few weeks are going to be rough…got two trips to California and one to NYC in the next 3 weeks….that is one reason I may run, can always find a treadmill.

So I missed another day yesterday working late….so I cranked out Chest, Shoulders and Triceps today…struggled a little.  Didn't go as many as last time but man can I feel it.  Arms are shaking….  Going to try to run tonight to make up for a missed day….the plyo tomorrow.

Last night I was claiming the workout was too easy…not the case with legs and back this AM.  Struggled through it pretty much.  The pullups were fine, although they are just a bit of a time filler to give the legs a break.  Definitely had to cut a few of the exercises 10-15 seconds short and was not matching all of the reps on all the exercises.  Part of this is just me continuing to have to build up on the leg workout, but part of this was me being pretty exhausted, as I feel like I was half asleep the first 20 minutes of the workout.  Regardless, I got in a good workout and I am glad I don't have to do it tonight.  Rest day tomorrow.

Just did Kenpo.  Set the alarm this morning for 5am, but it came a little too quickly after a superbowl sunday of eating crap.  No guilt, it was great…I have been very strict with the diet.  Anyway, didn't drag myself out of bed in time to get Kenpo in this morning.  Had to force myself to do it tonight after dinner.

Back in week one I never thought I would say this about any p90x workout, but Kenpo really is pretty easy.  You get an ok cardio workout and build up a sweat, but I feel like you could do it for hours and never be completely dead.  Maybe that is not the point (ie. not a 100% cardio workout) but just an observation.  If I wasn't finishing up so late at night, I definitley would have piggy-backed Cardio-X on top of it.

Legs & Back tomorrow to finish week 5, then a rest day.

Decided to just run today…ran 3.5 miles.  Cheated last night….not sure if you guys did…but I had a few beers and some pizza with some out of shape friends.

Tomorrow I am starting week 6…so close to half way there.

Back and Biceps this morning.  As I mentioned before, I usually use only the bands for the pullups.  But decided for phase two to go back to doing the pull-ups using the chair.  I have to say, despite working hard even when I did the band, it can compare to the real pull-ups, even with the assistance of the chair.  Going to stick with this the rest of the way.  Was really dead on the curls too by the end.  Sitting here now I can tell I had a great workout, because my arms are definitely heavy.

Also, did ARX and definitely did better than last time.  I can't come close to completing this, but stay through to the end and swap in crunches or leg lifts for the ones I can't do…ie. heels to heaven.

    Kenpo tomorrow instead of Yoga.

Just finished Plyo.  Didn't get to it yesterday (had a real early meeting and then was dead when I got home).  Got in a really good workout.  About 25 minutes in, I was feeling terrible, but I am planning on a few beers tonight, so I pushed to keep going and ended up feeling better towards the end.  Kept up with everything and was probably even going harder then the video at the end.  All and all felt good about it….until the FFB posts that he knocked out plyo and then through in a 4-mile run for fun!  Hopefully in 40 days, I will be doing the same.  Seems a ways away though.

Instead of falling behind a day for my missed workout yesterday, I am going to just swap Kenpo for Yoga on day 4.  That way won't push my completion day out.

dnash – tried to go the sweatshirt route for plyo, but felt like I was overheating (probably also why I felt terrible the first 25 minutes).  I will stick to that for Kenpo only at this point.

Drisc – Whether it's easy weight or not, that is very impressive…congrats on your early accomplishment!

Dnash – I also lost about 12lbs during phase 1 (no cheating) and I am a bit surprised you lost that much so you should be happy with that. You were not shy on telling us when you cheated and to be honest, it seemed to be often for just starting. Your 12lb weight loss tells me you have also been working hard.

I can imagine traveling for work and being in sales (taking out clients, etc..) is a tough job to maintain a consistent nutrition plan.

FFB – daily menu has been pretty consistent throughout and I have been 100% committed to it.  I have probably only eaten anything off the diet twice.  Once one piece of pizza and the other time some Thai food and a few beers.  Otherwise, I have been 100% with the diet, even the weekends.  I pretty much eat the same thing every day.

    6:30am – Protein shake with 1% milk.

7:30am – egg whites, turkey pepperoni and wheat english muffin

    10:30am – almonds and a string cheese

12:00pm – salad with baked chicken or ground turkey (small amount of lite dressing)

    2:30/3:00pm – yoplait yogurt and a cereal bar/granola bar/breakfast bar

7:30 – Dinner changes up, but generally: chicken/turkery/fish and a couple of veggies.  Sometimes swap out one veggie for some brown rice.  Occasionall, swap the whole dinner for some sort of low-cal, weight watchers type recipe that my wife makes.

I am guessing this is around 1600 calories.  Might be a little low.  I also had what I think is some easy weight to lose.

Drisc – At your convenience, can you post what you eat throughout the day and have you been good on the weekends?

20lbs in phase 1 is a signicificant amount of weight, most people lose under 10 and some under 5. You really start to see changes around the day 45 mark….based on the norm.

P90X Plus – Seeing that I have not done it yet, I am holding off from commenting on it. I have read (a few different places) it's overrated and not as intense as regular P90X…apparently, Tony is not the same.

I have read good/great reviews on sites that are trying to sell it but sometimes you wonder if they are just try to make sale or not. I do plan on doing it in the Fall of 2010 so I will let you know.

Do you know anyone doing it or have you read anything about it?

Chest, Shoulders, Tris this morning.  Good workout.  Definitely pushed myself as hard as I could.  Was pretty dead when it was over.  My reps weren't great on the pushups, but that will come as I get used to this workout a little bit.  Tony definitely doesn't help you out with the order of the exercises…ie., throwing one-armed and plyo pushups toward the end of the workout.  My one-arm push-ups must look ridiculous, but I try and do something that resembles what they are doing on the screen.  Got rolling 15-20 minutes late, so didn't have time for ARX…might try to squeeze it in tonight or just wait until next time.

Didn't get my workout in last night so got up this morning and did Back and Biceps…tough getting going in the morning if you are not used to it.  Might need to get gloves for this workout…a ton of curls and I have some blisters forming on my hand.

Will try to catch up by running or doing cardio x tonight and abs…didn't have time this morning.

Drisc….I am just trying to Bring It!

Rest day today and the end of the first rest week.  Weighed in this morning at 205, so down 20 pounds.  Definitely pumped about that.  Tomorrow starts Phase 2, so I am sure the new workouts will kick my butt for a bit, but looking forward to it.

dnash – going the sweatshirt route during plyo…that's extreme.  Glad to see everyone is still going strong.

FFB – heard some people talking about "P90X Plus" videos…surprised you haven't mentioned those.  You know anything about this?

Brought it last night during Plyo….pulled a Drisc and wore a sweatshirt during the whole thing….I was dead by the end but it was a great workout.  Arms are sore from Monday's workout…new routines are tough.  Need to get back and bis done tonight.

Did 45mins of YogaX this morning.  I am not feeling that great, so it was pretty terrible on all fronts.  One, I was bored and two just had no energy.  Was more than glad to shut it off when it got to the mid-point.  Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow and then the start of week 5.

Going to weigh in tomorrow for the end of phase 1.  I never took measurements to start, but think I will for day 28 to see the progress for Phase 2.

Just cranked out chest, shoulders and tris….did pretty good except for 1 handed push ups.  I don't think I will ever get those…arms are too long.  Did about 80% or abs which is the best so far.  My whole upper body feels great right now after that workout.

So this is the beginning of phase 2…lost about 11.5 pounds and an inch from my chest and 2 inches from my waist in round one.  Still got some more inches to lose before the muscle will start coming through.  So I am happy about round 1 but I could have done better if I didn't miss a few work outs and cheat a few times.

Drisc – I agree, it is good to hear. It makes sense that it does, I just wasn't sure it would.

also, good job on pushing yourself saturday night…you are setting the tone for future workouts.

Definitely try the banana thing, it made a huge difference for me…i either have a whey shake or a banana.

Just finished Core.  I got a great workout, but I definitely ran out of gas.  Had to cut 2-3 exercises 20-30 seconds short toward the end.  I was pretty dead.  I know this is a hard workout, but I have to figure out how to get more energy.  Might try eating a banana before working out.  Anyway, Kenpo or Yoga (tbd) tomorrow to finish off the rest week.

FFB – good to hear about your cardio improving so much just doing p90x.  I think my plan is to go into more of a Cardio type workout plan, once I finish my 90 days, with maybe a p90x workout scattered in here or there.
