P90X MASS Results – Day 93
Interval Training – EASIER SAID THAN DONE…
I honestly thought I would be able to run two miles and bang out twenty 40 yard sprints with no problem…wrong! I started incorporating four mile runs into my workout schedule around day 76 or so. I have been impressed with the fact that I been able to run 4 miles with such ease and I consider myself in the best running shape of my life right now…and I haven’t been running (I credit plyometrics for that). I warmed-up with a 9 minute mile jog and at the beginning of my second mile I increased my pace a bit (about 25%). My plan was to increase it for 2 minutes but I was dead after 1 minute so I slowed it back down for a couple of minutes. I continued to increase/decrease my pace for the remainder of the second mile. By the time I was finished, I was toast and I have not even started the sprints yet. I took a few minutes to recover and then started my 40 yard sprints. My plan was to jog back to the starting line every time but that only lasted two sprints, I started walking back to the starting line to get that extra break. I did end up completing 11 sprints but I was I exhausted by the end. I looked at my watch and this whole workout only lasted 28 minutes so if you minus out the 9 minute warm-up mile…it really only lasted 19 minutes.
As much as this workout owned me this morning, I am ready to take it on again!
