P90X Triathlon – 6 days to go…
X-ME, freaking bring it…shaved 2 minutes 18 seconds off my best time!!
I have to credit the run on the difference in time. I glanced at the watch right after my bike ride only to realize I was about 30 seconds slower than my best time. I started my run and felt pretty good but I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel a couple miles into it…to my surprise, I got a lot stronger and I took full advantage of it by pushing myself up until I hit my pool area. I wanted to beat my time so badly I pretty much went all out in the pool too. At the end of the day, it was the run that made the difference. I feel great that I pretty much crushed my best time on my last intense workout before the race!
I completed today’s bike/run/swim workout in 1 hour 3 minutes and 27 seconds. Even though the distances are the same as the triathlon I am doing, I do not expect this time on race day. On race day, I will be swimming first so I need to account for the time it takes to get out of the ocean and run across the beach to get my bike as well as to put my sneakers/helmet on…this is referred to as “transition time”. There will also be a transition time between the bike ride and run as I need to rack my bike before starting the run. When I train at my house, the transition times are minimal so my goal on race day is to break 1 hour 10 minutes…but I might as well set the bar high and shoot for 1 hour 5 minutes (highly unlikely though)
750 people signed up for this race and I know we will be divided up in groups but I have to assume we are all going to be in each other’s way fighting for a spot so I just hope I hold my own in the water and avoid crashing during the bike ride…
