P90X Workout – Day 63
Rest Day- I had to complete cardio-x today to achieve “doubles” status for the week. If this wasn’t the last day of the week, I would have pushed it to another day but it was so I ended up doing it. This was a 43 minute routine (compared to 23 minutes) as I participated in the warm-up. I actually did not find it difficult to do doubles this week so my plan is to finish the program this way.
Nutrition – I was expecting to be real good this weekend as far as the nutrition plan goes but I ended up hanging out with my neighbors last night which led to a few drinks…actually, it was a bit more than a few but I did not eat any of the snacks that were starring at me all night so I did have some will power.
I placed an order for casein protein today so once I receive it, I am going to start taking it right before I go to sleep. Casein protein is a slow-digesting protein that has a steady release of amino acids and peaks in the blood stream in 3-4 hours and can last up to 7 hours. Sleep is primetime for building muscle so casein protein would be the protein of choice to take at this time. Whey protein in comparison peaks in about 40 minutes and ends in an hour so whey should be taken right after a workout.

Question for you. I haven’t read your entire blog so my apologies if you have already covered this. Are you doing your doubles one routine after the other or are you splitting them one in the a.m. and one in the p.m.? I get up at 5:15am and start at 5:30am. I’m on day 70 of the Classic routine and I’m so addicted to the results that I am pondering making week 12 a double just to try it.
With a kid at home my husband and I split our days to make sure we both get our P90x. I get the mornings and he gets the evenings. If I was to try doubles, I would have to crank them out in the morning in one a.m. session. What’s your advice based on your regimen? Thanks very much!

No problem, I did cover it…I am including the link of the post below
I also start my workouts at 5:30am and find that when I piggyback cardio-x on top of my primary workout, it’s not bad to do one bit. I tried breaking them up but I always dreaded doing cardio-x at night.
